American Legion Westchester County New York USA

Dear Veterans & Friends:

On Saturday,  May 17, 2008. The Town of Mt Pleasant / Veterans of Foreign Wars / American
Legion,   and Vietnam Veterans of America will celebrate its 2nd ARMED FORCES DAY PARADE.
This years Grand Marshal is Gary B. Beikirch, Medal of Honor Recipient from Rochester New York.

The Parade will begin at 1:00 P.M from the Mt Pleasant Recreation Center and proceed to Town
Hall Plaza   were the Medal of Honor Monument Dedication will take place honoring all MOH
recipients who were born  or entered the service in New York.

The Monument will be a permanent fixture at Mt Pleasant Town Hall, in Valhalla, N.Y. You may know
that the Medal of Honor is reserved for and bestowed upon those members of the Armed Forces
who expose themselves to the risk of death in an attempt to save the lives of others. It is this
gallantry and self- sacrifice which is recognized by our nation.

Our Honorary Grand Marshal is Robert C. Murray, a soldier who while patrolling a village in Vietnam
threw  himself on top of a grenade absorbing a fatal impact thereby saving the lives of the other
members of his unit.   He was awarded the Medal of Honor* Posthumously. This conduct is not
isolated as we presently have 85 Medal of Honor recipients from the State of New York which have
been bestowed upon members of our Armed Forces.

Please join us on this momentous occasion and honor these men and women who sacrifice their
lives   everyday so we can enjoy the very freedoms we have today. Please support our Souvenir
Journal which
Help’s support the Armed Forces Day Parade and the Medal of Honor Monument.

Sincerely Yours,
