The "Sons of the American Legion Radio Report" can be heard live on WVOX
1460 AM in Westchester County and around the world on WVOX.com.   The show is held
every Monday from 2:30 to 3:00 PM.

The host of the program is Kenneth G. Kraetzer, Commander of Sons of the American Legion
in Pelham, NY; Historian for Westchester County, and Vice Commander for New York State.

US service members deployed overseas.

In the college football season, SAL Radio conducts The West Point Football Report covering
the weekly highlights of Army coaches and interviews with West Point players, coaches, alumni
and officials.

Command Master Chief Ray Kemp USN was born in Corpus Christi, Texas August 5,
1968 to Geneva Buford.  He graduated from Millwood High School in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma in 1986.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy June 22, 1986 and completed Recruit
Training and DP ‘A’ School in San Diego.

Following ‘A’ School he reported for duty onboard USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62),
Philadelphia, PA where he was assigned to Supply Rehabilitation for 9 months prior to
assignment to the Supply ADP Division.  While assigned to ADP he was qualified as
Production Control Clerk and Assistant Leading Petty Officer (advanced E1 to E5).

Master Chief Kemp’s first shore duty assignment was Naval Security Station,
Washington DC from 1990-1993 where he was selected to be the Departmental
Leading Petty Officer of 30 Department, the largest department within the command.  
Electing to return to sea duty, he reported on board USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72)
home ported in Alameda, CA in 1993 where he successfully completing 2 WESTPAC
deployments.  In 1995, he reported to the Tactical Support Command (ASWOC), San
Diego, CA where he was assigned as the ADP LPO and subsequently filled the gapped
billet of Operations Control Division Officer (advanced to E6).  

In 1998 Master Chief Kemp furthered his Navy adventure by opting for an overseas sea
assignment on the Staff of Commander Amphibious Group ONE home ported in
Okinawa Japan.  While assigned to COMPHIBGRU ONE he was selected for Chief Petty
Officer.  In 2002, he reported to Naval Space Command / NNSOC / NETWARCOM,
Dahlgren, VA where he served as the Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer and
was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In 2005, Master Chief Kemp reported onboard the
USS KEARSARGE (LHD-3) home
ported in Norfolk, VA as the Information Assurance Manager, Automated Data
Processing Division and C5I Department LCPO (advanced to ITCM) – and selected to
Master Chief.

In 2008 he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to VADM Harry Harris, Deputy CNO
Communications Networks (N6).  Participating in the 56th Inauguration Ceremony with
the Armed Forces Inauguration Committee (AFIC) by representing OPNAV  has been a
career highlight.

Master Chief Kemp is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted
Aviation Warfare Specialist.  His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps
Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars, Navy Achievement Medal with 2 gold stars,
Combat Action Ribbon, along with numerous unit and service decorations.

He served as Command Master Chief on USS Mason and assumes the role of
Command Master Chief of USS Harry Truman in mid-May 2012.
