About James Bradley
James Bradley is the celebrated author of #1 New York Times best-seller Flags of Our
Fathers, later made into a critically-acclaimed film directed by Clint Eastwood. The
book is the true story of the six men, including Bradley's father, who raised the flag in
1945 on Iwo Jima, an image made iconic in the most reproduced photograph in
history. A runaway success, Flags of Our Fathers exemplifies the power of doing the
impossible and the achievement of incredible goals, the message that Bradley
promotes as a motivational speaker.
James Bradley's keynote speeches are inspirational and moving testaments to the
men and women who do the "impossible" everyday. Whether it is in time of war, or in
achieving goals at work and at home, he salutes those who believe in making a
difference and creating success. Motivating all people to do their best and seek out
challenges, Bradley uses stories and examples to help audiences understand what
they can do to engage in the impossible.
James Bradley is more than just a best-selling author and keynote speaker, he is also
a scholar of World War II, in particular, of the Pacific. In addition to Flags of Our
Fathers he has published the best-seller Flyboys, as well as The Imperial Cruise, an
in-depth exploration of Theodore Roosevelt's foreign policy which became an instant
New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-seller.
James Bradley is the President of the James Bradley Peace Foundation
"My father helped raise the flag on Iwo Jima, Japan. When I was nineteen I
attended university in Tokyo, the capital of his former enemy. The experience
changed my life. Later I wrote books about Asia and decided that money from my
books would be used to send American high school students to China and Japan.
My hope is that after these young people come back from their one year abroad,
they will eventually migrate upwards into the American power structure and the
next time we are debating whether to talk it out or fight it out, one of them might
make a difference.
My life has been enriched getting to know these talented students and I'm sure
you will enjoy learning more about them here"
