Lieutenant Colonel Norman Easy was commissioned as an Armor Officer in the New York Army National
Guard in 1983 after completing the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Fredonia State University.
Colonel Easy diversified his Army career by transitioning through three other branches Infantry,
Transportation, Logistics and Field Artillery. Colonel Easy has held numerous assignments at the
company, battalion and brigade level, including deploying to Iraq from 2003-2005 and most recently
February 2009 to February 2010 where he served as an Advisor to the Iraqi Ministry of Defense.
Colonel Easy is the recipient of numerous military awards to include two - Bronze Star Medals, The
Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global war on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign
Medal w/3 Campaign Stars, Two National Defense Service Medal and the World Trade Center First
Responder Medal.
Colonel Easy holds a Bachelors of Science Degree from the State University of New York and an MBA
from Touro University. He resides in Freeport NY with his wife Nitxia and four children; Marcus, Xavier,
Caitlin and Jayden.
Specific Responsibilities in Iraq:
Lieutenant Colonel Easy served two tours of duty in Iraq. In the initial tour from 2003-2005, Colonel
Easy served as the Battalion Support Operations Officer with the 369th Corps Support Battalion, Harlem
Hellfighters. In this assignment, Colonel Easy was responsible for the logistical resourcing of three US
combat divisions, 1 Marine Expeditionary Force and the 31 Coalition countries. In addition, he was
responsible for life support on his forward operating base.
During his most recent assignment in Iraq, February 2009 to February 2010, Colonel Easy was
assigned the Multinational Force Iraq (MNFI) headquarters, and served as a Liaison Officer to the Iraqi
Ministry of Defense, the senior military headquarters for the government of Iraq. Colonel Easy advised
senior level Iraqi military officers on strategic development and capacity management for the
Government of Iraq. Additionally, Colonel Easy Liaised with the US Embassy in Baghdad and with
numerous Non Government Organizations.
Lieutenant Colonel Easy was awarded two Bronze Stars for service, one for each assignment.
