Lt. Caron Damen, a native of Maryland,  enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 2002 and
completed Officer Candidate School in 2004.  She has served at Sault Ste. Marie,
Michigan in the Response Department and in 2008 was assigned to Sector New York as
a Command Duty Officer.  She was on duty as a Command Center Rep directing the
response to the landing in the Hudson River of the US Air plane on January 15, 2009.

Chief Warrant Officer Darren Pauly is a native of Wamego, Kansas.  He enlisted in the
Coast Giard in 1987 and was commissioned in 2007.  His duty assignments have
included the CGC Attu based in San Juan, PR; Station Cortez, in Cortex, FL; CGC Point
Whitehorn, St. Thomis, USVI; Marine Safety Officer, Tampa, FL; Station San Juan, San
Juan, PR;  Station St. Petersburg, St Petersburg, FL;  CGC Resolute, St. Petersburg, FL;
Sector New York - Current Duties include Aids to Navigation Officer, Ice Breaking Officer

At 0850 local time January 24th, 2001, the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter RIDLEY moored at her
new homeport in Montauk, Long Island, New York. The USCGC RIDLEY is "IN SERVICE,
SPECIAL" status. CGCRidley began its training and familiarization prior to being  
commissioned on March 23, 2001. The Coast Guard Cutter Ridley (WPB 87328), is one of
the Marine Protector class patrol boats. The Ridley performs search and rescue, law
enforcement, and marine environmental protection missions. CGC Ridley is the 28th Marine
Protector class patrol boat to be delivered to the Coast Guard by Bollinger Shipyards, Inc.
in Lockport, LA. This new 50-vessel class is designed to replace the aging 82-foot Point
Class patrol boats currently in service. CGC Ridley is the replacement for the Coast Guard
Cutter Point Wells, which was decommissioned on October 13, 2000 after 36 years of
service. Several design innovations have been incorporated into this new class, including a
fully integrated electronics suite and the ability to sail with completely mixed-gender crews,
which was not previously possible on a vessel of this size.

USCGC KATHERINE WALKER (WLM 552)

KATHERINE WALKER's primary mission is maintaining over 300 floating aids to navigation in &
around New York harbor & its approaches, Long Island Sound, the Hudson & East Rivers, & other
waters along the Connecticut, New York, & New Jersey coastlines. As the Coast Guard's premier
maritime command & control platform in the tri-state region Katherine Walker is used extensively for
International and Homeland Security operations as well as other high profile missions including the
Macy's July Fourth Fireworks & Fleet Week. KW also performs Search & Rescue, Ice Breaking, &
Environmental Response & Protection.

The Katherine Walker responded to the Hudson River USAir rescue on January 19th.
