    for 2008 Pelham, NY Memorial Day


    May 1, 2008 Pelham, NY Col. William F. Ioris, a World War Two veteran of the US
    Army Air Forces and a B29 crew member will be the Grand Marshall of the Pelham Memorial Day
    parade to be held on Monday May 26th in the Town of Pelham, New York; Westchester County.

    The parade will begin at 11:30 AM at the corner of Black Street on The Esplanade in Pelham Manor.
    The parade will follow the Esplanade and turn right onto Wolf's Lane passing the Pelham Town
    Library and Pelham Memorial High School into Pelham's business district.   The parade will enter the
    Village of Pelham entering the business district, passing under the Metro North tracks and entering
    onto Fifth Avenue.  The parade will pass the Daronco Town Center, before reaching the reviewing
    stand, just beyond the Town Hall in front of Pelham's Veterans Park.

    Pelham for the sixth consecutive year will host 40 US Navy Sailors and Marines participating in New
    York City Fleet Week.  The sailors will be from the USS Kearsarge and the Marines from Camp
    LeJeune, North Carolina.  Pelham previously hosted members of the crew of the Kearsarge two
    years ago and is delighted to have them back.

    Participating in the parade will be many Pelham organizations and a number of bands including Pelham
    Memorial High School's band.  

    At approximately 12:15 PM, immediately after the conclusion of the parade will be a ceremony at the
    Pelham Veterans Park, at which the names of Pelham's 85 natives and residents who died during war
    time military service will be read.  Lt. Col. Paul Sarat,  stationed at the United States Military
    Academy at West Point, will be the keynote speaker.

    Pelham Memorial Day activities are organized by American Legion Post 50 and Sons of the American
    Legion Squadron 50 in conjunction with the Town of Pelham and a number of town organizations.
