Pelham to Participate in Wreaths Across America Saturday Dec. 15th Pelham Veterans Park.
Pelham, NY December 13, 2007. Post 50 Pelham of the American Legion and Squadron 50 of the
Sons of the American Legion will participate in the Wreaths Across America program by placing a
wreath in the Pelham Veterans Park on Saturday December 15th. All are welcome to participate in
the short ceremony which will be conducted starting at 11:45 AM.
The Pelham Veteran's Memorial park is located on Fifth Avenue in the Village of Pelham adjacent to
the Town Hall Building.
The program is centered on the placement of 10,000 wreaths on the graves at Arlington National
Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia which has expanded to over 200 locations across the country and
the 24 overseas military cemeteries. The mission of the project is to "Remember the fallen; Honor
those who serve; Teach our children the value of freedom".
Pelham has three known native residents and veterans of the armed forces interred at Arlington
National Cemetery, Jason Ard Lodwick, Eli Page Howard, Jr. and Eli Page Howard, Sr who will be
remembered at the ceremony in Pelham by having their names read. Also to be remembered at the
ceremony will be the eight natives killed during World War II service who are interred at the overseas
military cemeteries in France, Luxembourg, the Philippines, and Hawaii administered by the
American Battle Monument Commission.
