Pelham's Memorial Day 2006 Visit of US Navy
|
Crew members of the USS Kearsarge in NYC for Fleet Week 2006 marched in
Pelham's Memorial Day parade organized by American Legion Post 50 and the
Sons of the American Legion. Two Pelham Boy Scouts, Patrick Cartelli and Sam
Robertson were assigned the honor of leading the Navy and Marine units in the
parade carrying the American and Boy Scouts of America flags ahead of the US
military units. Before starting out, Senior Chief Petty Officer Raymond Kemp
USN, from Oklahoma City, interviewed each scout on the number of “Push-ups”
they could do both two handed and with one. Chief Kemp and Mt. Vernon native,
Senior Chief Petty Officer Scott Tindal lead the visitors in a “One team, One
Fight” cheer during the parade through Pelham.
