Memorial Day 2006 Visit of HMS Scott
Post 50 hosted the visit of four sailors from the HMS Scott which was in New York
City for Fleet Week. The HMS Scott is a Royal Navy survey ship named after
Antarctic explorer Capt. Robert Falcon Scott who died in 1912 on his way back
from the South Pole.  With the assistance of Scoutmaster Ralph Mirra, two
Pelham Boy Scouts, Jack McGuirk and Evan Lamelle were assigned parade color
guard duties honoring the British military visitors by presenting the British flags,
the “Union Jack” and the Royal Navy’s “White Ensign”.  The British guests
presented a wreath at Pelham's Veteran's Memorial Park with the name of their
ship displayed on a ribbon.
