American Legion Post 50 & Sons of the American Legion Squadron 50 lead color guard
ceremony honoring the New York National Guard prior to Mets - Phillies game at Shea
Stadium on Sunday Sept. 7th.  Participating in the ceremony were members of the "Fighting
69th" Regiment, the 258th Field Artillery, The Washington Grays" from Jamaica, Queens; and
sailors from the US Submarine Base at Groton, CT.
In 1943 on the bridge of USS Wahoo, Executive Officer Richard H. O'Kane and the
legendary Commanding Officer LCDR Dudley "Mush" Morton.  After WWII CDR
Morton's family settled in Pelham.  He and the crew of the Wahoo will be honored on Oct.
11th at Pelham's Daronco Town House on Fifth Avenue at 11 AM.  The US Navy band
based in Newport RI will provide a Free Concert starting at 10 AM.
